Welcome
About the village The village of Líšný first appeared in written records as early as 1382 under the name of Lesczne. The first cottages in the settlement probably sprang up on the southern slope of the right-hand bank of the Jizera River and along the stream which had its source beneath the higher situated village of Sněhov. Further settlement took place on the adjacent river bank probably at the end of the 15th century. The houses on the right-hand side of the river belonged to the Estate of Malá Skála, while the village which grew on the left-hand bank belonged to the Lords of Hrubý Rozhožec. The village was part of the parish of Bzí.The local Menčík textile factory was nationalised and then closed down in 1956. A state enterprise known as the Železný Brod Glass Company took over the factory buildings and used them as a base for the activities of local skilled workers. The company made costume jewellery there from pressed and wound beads and glass stones and this production was later expanded to include light fittings and plastic costume jewellery. The municipality currently plays host to a very lively social calendar. In 2003, a petanque league was established and 16 teams played in its first season, which bodes well for the future of the league in this village of 250 people. The representatives of various organisations joined in the games (for example, the Volunteer Fire Brigade and the SOKOL Sports Club). The aforementioned organisations are highly active in Líšný and they organise a number of events for the citizens in the municipality, but also for the masses from throughout the Czech Republic and abroad. One particular favourite is the Lisný Marches through the Bohemian Paradise which play host to more than 2000 visitors every year. Basic information
Tourist information:The Municipality of Líšný is one of the smallest municipalities in the area with regard to both its size and population. Despite this, however, its natural environs include some of the most beautiful spots in the region. The wonderful panoramas of the Dry Cliffs (Suché scaly) and the River Jizera and the views from the Kopanina and Kozákov lookout towers are but the best known gems located within the environs of Líšný. Líšný is situated on the border of a number of hiking areas: the Bohemian Paradise, the upper Jizera River area, the Jizera Mountains (albeit that they are about 30 km distant) and even the Western Giant Mountains (Krkonoše). The proximity of these areas has meant that our municipality has become a centre for trips into all of the aforementioned places, which are amongst the most visited in our republic.Information centresThe tourist information centres offer information about various tourist locations and monuments, information for tourists, information about cultural events, promotional material about the area and so on.
Accommodation:Our municipality is not very large and, as already stated, it offers a number of beautiful places and monuments in its environs. Líšný is also able to offer a small number of beds and accommodation facilities for those who decide to visit our region. The main accommodation facility in the municipality is the Líšný SOKOL Sports Club which offers accommodation in a hostel and in a chalet near the ski tow. In both cases, this involves backpacker accommodation. The hostel provides accommodation at reasonable prices in the area of the northern edge of the Bohemian Paradise, in a picturesque valley of the Jizera River which is an optimum starting point for hiking or cycling activities. There is also something for downhill skiers, as the Sokol Sports Club operates a 430 m long ski tow with an elevation of 112 m whenever the snow conditions allow. The chalet near the ski tow has 9 beds in a single room and it is also available for use outside the skiing season. The main Sokol facility operates all year round. It has a capacity of about 21 beds in 4 rooms.Contact information for the Municipal Authority:
